Product Information

This figure brings NUMBER (N)INE’s Mickey Mouse artwork to life in three dimensions at approximately 105 mm tall. Its dramatic forward-leaning pose and long, slender stand-like accessory capture the intensity and movement of a live rock performance.

According to the official release information, the figure was sold through NUMBER (N)INE retailers and stores in MEDICOM TOY’s distribution network. One of its defining features is the way KMC Design transformed NUMBER (N)INE’s original graphic artwork into a fully realized three-dimensional collectible.

Mickey Mouse Through the Years and His Many Looks

Source: D23 “Mickey Mouse”

Mickey Mouse is a character created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. He made his screen debut on November 18, 1928, in the New York premiere of Steamboat Willie.

His round ears, white gloves, red shorts, and yellow shoes are some of Mickey Mouse’s most recognizable features. Over his long history, his outfits and appearance have evolved to suit different films and eras, giving fans countless interpretations of the character.

VCD MICKEY MOUSE (Hardrock Ver.) keeps Mickey Mouse’s signature color palette while adding a pose charged with the energy of rock music. The combination of his familiar appearance and intense stage presence creates a striking impression unlike a traditional standing Mickey Mouse figure.

The design that inspired VCD MICKEY MOUSE (Hardrock Ver.) originally appeared in NUMBER (N)INE’s Spring/Summer 2000 collection. MEDICOM TOY later transformed that graphic into a collectible figure in 2014.

Although it is a Disney character collectible, the figure can also be appreciated as a three-dimensional piece of Japanese fashion history. It bridges two collecting worlds: Disney fans and those interested in the design legacy of NUMBER (N)INE.

A Forward-Leaning Pose Packed with Hard Rock Energy

Source: MEDICOM TOY

In the Hardrock Ver., Mickey Mouse grips a long, slender stand-like accessory with both hands while leaning his entire body dramatically forward. Rather than simply standing still, the sculpt looks as though it captures a split second of Mickey moving with the music on stage.

Classic Mickey Mouse features such as his round ears and oversized shoes remain instantly recognizable. At the same time, the low stance and sharp angles of his body introduce a sense of tension and intensity to his otherwise familiar and charming silhouette.

From the front, the expression and forward-leaning stance immediately stand out. From the side, you can appreciate the flowing line from his head through his back and down to his legs. The way the sense of movement changes depending on the viewing angle is one of the key appeals of seeing the original two-dimensional graphic transformed into a three-dimensional figure.

What Are VINYL COLLECTIBLE DOLLS (VCD)?

Source: MEDICOM TOY

VINYL COLLECTIBLE DOLLS, commonly known as VCD, is a collectible figure series produced by MEDICOM TOY. The lineup covers a wide range of styles, from figures inspired by memorable movie scenes to three-dimensional interpretations of artwork created by fashion brands and artists.

Mickey Mouse figures in the VCD series take on different forms depending on the source material or artwork. Collectors can compare differences in height, pose, costume, and color scheme while enjoying the personality of each design.

VCD MICKEY MOUSE (Hardrock Ver.) transforms NUMBER (N)INE’s music-inspired graphic into a figure standing approximately 105 mm tall. Its appeal lies not only in the character itself, but also in the way it preserves the mood and atmosphere of the original design.

A Collectible Fashion Collaboration Released in 2014

VCD MICKEY MOUSE (Hardrock Ver.) was released in October 2014, based on a Mickey Mouse design originally created by NUMBER (N)INE in 2000.

A graphic first created for fashion was transformed into a three-dimensional MEDICOM TOY figure 14 years later. That connection between two different mediums and eras gives VCD MICKEY MOUSE (Hardrock Ver.) a strong sense of archival value.

The figure is currently listed as an archived product on the official MEDICOM TOY store and is sold out. For collectors, that makes it the kind of piece that can be rewarding to track down. It is a particularly appealing collectible not only for Disney fans, but also for collectors interested in Japanese fashion and designer toys.

The Singing Ver. was sculpted by KMC Design and shares many similarities with the Hardrock Ver. It stands approximately 135 mm tall and was released in October 2014, the same month as the Hardrock Ver.

Both figures turn NUMBER (N)INE’s music-inspired Mickey Mouse artwork into three-dimensional collectibles, each with a different performance pose. Hardrock Ver. focuses on intense movement with Mickey leaning low and forward, while Singing Ver. draws attention with its taller, more elongated silhouette that evokes the image of Mickey singing.

Displayed together, the two figures highlight the range of designs created under the same brand. Through Mickey Mouse, collectors can compare different sides of NUMBER (N)INE’s distinctive visual style.

VCD MICKEY MOUSE (Microphone Ver.)

Microphone Ver. recreates a Mickey Mouse design that NUMBER (N)INE originally featured in its apparel. Standing approximately 140 mm tall, it was released in July 2016.

Its upright pose in front of the microphone creates a different kind of stage tension from the low, forward-leaning Hardrock Ver. Displaying the two together creates a scene that evokes the contrast between stillness and motion during a live performance.

VCD MICKEY MOUSE (Guitar Ver.)

Guitar Ver. brings NUMBER (N)INE’s guitar-playing Mickey Mouse to life as an approximately 130 mm-tall figure. Released in July 2016, it is VCD No.251.

Displaying the three figures together evokes the image of vocals and live instrumentation on stage. As a set, they allow collectors to enjoy NUMBER (N)INE’s music-inspired Mickey Mouse designs as one cohesive performance scene.

MEDICOM TOY has released a variety of Mickey Mouse VCD figures inspired by fashion brands and different works of art. Collecting them alongside Hardrock Ver. offers a fascinating way to compare how different designers interpret the same iconic character.

VCD MICKEY MOUSE ROEN GUITAR Ver. (BLACK & SILVER) is an approximately 150 mm-tall figure of Mickey Mouse holding a guitar, designed by Roen. The sculpt captures Mickey in a dynamic pose that looks as though he is about to smash the guitar, with facial details and movement that can only be fully appreciated in three dimensions.

Displayed beside Hardrock Ver., it shows how different poses and accessories can completely change the mood even when both figures share a rock-inspired theme. It is also an attractive addition for collectors interested in Mickey Mouse collaborations with Japanese fashion brands.

STANDARD NORMAL Ver. is based on a well-known Mickey Mouse image sketch. It was released in two color variations: a standard color version and a monochrome B&W version. Both stand approximately 175 mm tall.

Displayed beside Hardrock Ver., STANDARD offers an easy way to compare a classic interpretation of Mickey Mouse with a fashion-brand reinterpretation. Its simple, iconic design also pairs naturally with almost any other Mickey Mouse collectible.

VCD MICKEY MOUSE ASTRONAUT Ver.

Source: MEDICOM TOY

VCD MICKEY MOUSE ASTRONAUT Ver. recreates a design originally featured in BILLIONAIRE BOYS CLUB apparel as an approximately 225 mm-tall figure. Its bulky spacesuit gives it a completely different silhouette from the compact and sharply posed Hardrock Ver.

Both Hardrock Ver. and ASTRONAUT Ver. transform designs originally used in apparel into three-dimensional collectibles. Displaying them together lets collectors compare the very different creative approaches of NUMBER (N)INE and BILLIONAIRE BOYS CLUB.
