What Is Yu-Gi-Oh! THE DARK SIDE OF DIMENSIONS?

Source: TV Tokyo Yu-Gi-Oh! THE DARK SIDE OF DIMENSIONS Official Website

Yu-Gi-Oh! THE DARK SIDE OF DIMENSIONS is a theatrical film that continues the story after the original manga.

The story takes place after Yugi Muto and Yami Yugi have parted ways. It follows a new conflict involving Seto Kaiba, who continues his relentless pursuit of the Millennium Puzzle, and a mysterious young man named Aigami.
Original creator Kazuki Takahashi was responsible for the original concept, screenplay, character designs, and executive production. Kenjiro Tsuda also returned from the anime series to voice Seto Kaiba.
“V.S. Series: Yu-Gi-Oh! THE DARK SIDE OF DIMENSIONS – Seto Kaiba ~THE DARK SIDE OF DIMENSIONS~” was created to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the film’s release. Its composition combines the movie’s striking blue-lit atmosphere with a dramatic scene of Kaiba summoning two dragons.

Who Is Seto Kaiba?

Source: TV Tokyo Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters Character Guide

Seto Kaiba is the president of Kaiba Corporation and a powerful Duelist who recognizes Yugi Muto as his greatest rival.

Driven by an intense desire for victory and unwavering self-confidence, Kaiba takes on his opponents with powerful cards and bold strategies. Among them, Blue-Eyes White Dragon stands above all others as the monster most closely associated with him.
In the film, Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon joins Blue-Eyes White Dragon in battle. “V.S. Series: Yu-Gi-Oh! THE DARK SIDE OF DIMENSIONS – Seto Kaiba ~THE DARK SIDE OF DIMENSIONS~” brings Kaiba and both dragons together in a single display, capturing the obsession, confidence, and overwhelming power that define Kaiba in the movie.

The V.S. Series Captures an Entire Scene in One Display

Source: Premium Bandai

The V.S. Series is a MegaHouse figure line that brings iconic characters and monsters together as a single dramatic scene.

In this release, the two dragons surrounding Kaiba are layered with translucent blue effects, creating a composition that changes dramatically depending on the viewing angle.
The concept was inspired by calendar and poster artwork showing Blue-Eyes White Dragon surrounding Kaiba. Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon was then added to reimagine the visual as a scene in which Kaiba summons both dragons at once.

The two dragons differ not only in their sculpting but also in the direction of their paintwork. Blue-Eyes White Dragon features a subdued metallic finish designed to evoke the organic texture of living skin. Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, meanwhile, has a harder, armor-like sculpt complemented by a shimmering pearlescent finish with a fine particle effect. Comparing the two side by side highlights the distinctive visual differences between the dragons as they appear in the film.

A Massive Display Measuring Approximately 410mm Tall and 550mm Wide

Source: Premium Bandai

“V.S. Series: Yu-Gi-Oh! THE DARK SIDE OF DIMENSIONS – Seto Kaiba ~THE DARK SIDE OF DIMENSIONS~” measures approximately 410mm tall to the tips of the wings and approximately 550mm wide.

Seto Kaiba himself stands approximately 230mm tall to the top of his head, and the two dragons make the complete display extend dramatically in both height and width. Blue-Eyes White Dragon spreads its wings wide, while Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon stretches its rigid wings and tail outward.
Kaiba’s coat also sweeps dramatically behind him, adding a sense of motion whether the figure is viewed from the front or from either side. For collectors looking for an imposing Yu-Gi-Oh! display piece, this figure delivers serious shelf presence.
Rather than displaying the character and monsters separately, their silhouettes overlap on a single base. The result feels less like a group of individual figures and more like a complete three-dimensional scene taken directly from the film.

A Movie-Inspired Figure Sold Through Select Retailers

“V.S. Series: Yu-Gi-Oh! THE DARK SIDE OF DIMENSIONS – Seto Kaiba ~THE DARK SIDE OF DIMENSIONS~” was offered through Premium Bandai, Jump Characters Store, AmiAmi, and select Yellow Submarine locations.
Premium Bandai closed pre-orders on April 26, 2022. Four years after its release, the figure is now available through only a limited number of channels.
For Yu-Gi-Oh! figure collectors, the fact that this massive release was distributed through a limited selection of retailers is another noteworthy part of its collectibility.
