two checkpoints they had never thought about are the ones that matter most in practice.

What the checkpoints are actually about
Every question maps to something our inspection staff in Japan looks at physically:
print and paint edges, seam and joint finishing, the way packaging is printed and folded,
and the paperwork that a legitimate release ships with. None of these is a verdict on its
own. A single soft print edge can be a production variance; the same soft edge together
with an off-register logo and a box with the wrong flap construction is a different story.
Combining signals is the whole skill.
Frequently asked
Does a high score mean I can authenticate on my own? No. It means you
know where to look. Physical handling, reference comparison and provenance still do the
real work.
Are these checkpoints specific to one maker? No — they are general
checkpoints that apply across Japanese figures, and they deliberately avoid claims about
any particular manufacturer or product line.
What if I am unsure about an item I already own? Compare it against a
known-good reference of the same release before drawing any conclusion. Condition and
authenticity questions are easier to answer with two items side by side than with one.
Where do the answers come from? They reflect the inspection routine we
use on pre-owned stock before it is listed, written up as general collector guidance.
