Official Markings & Licensing Stamps
Licensed Japanese figures carry official copyright lines, brand logos and (on many modern releases) holographic licensing stickers. Check that the copyright text matches the rights holder and that logos are crisp, not blurry or re-drawn.
Packaging, Print Quality & Inserts
Compare box print sharpness, color balance and the presence of correct inserts. Counterfeit packaging often shows washed-out colors, typos, or missing window films.
Paint, Seams & Material Quality
Look closely at paint edges (eyes, hairlines), seam alignment and plastic texture. Unlicensed copies typically show sloppy paint bleed, rough seams and lighter, cheaper-feeling plastic.
Condition Grading the Japanese Secondhand Way
Japanese secondhand shops commonly grade items from unopened/like-new down to junk-for-parts. When we list an item we describe box condition and figure condition separately, with photos of the actual piece you receive.
