When Good Smile Company announced that Alucard would be joining the Nendoroid lineup as number 1899, longtime Castlevania fans finally had a reason to make space on the shelf next to their Symphony of the Night memorabilia. The dhampir prince has appeared in countless forms over the decades — from pewter statues to prize figures — but a proper Nendoroid treatment had been conspicuously absent. Released in 2023, this figure captures the melancholic elegance of Konami’s most beloved vampire hunter in a chibi silhouette that still manages to feel undeniably true to Ayami Kojima’s original art direction.
Japanese collectibles tied to Castlevania occupy a unique niche. Unlike Western merchandise, which often leans on the Netflix animated series, domestic Japanese releases typically reference the games directly, with packaging art, accessory choices, and sculpt details pulled from Konami’s own archives. That authenticity is a big part of why collectors in the West hunt down Japan-market pieces first.
About This Item
The Castlevania Alucard Nendoroid 1899 is a fully articulated chibi-style collectible figure manufactured by Good Smile Company and released in 2023. Standing approximately 10 centimeters tall, the figure depicts Alucard — the dhampir son of Dracula and protagonist of 1997’s Castlevania: Symphony of the Night — in Good Smile Company’s signature super-deformed Nendoroid proportions. The sculpt was developed in collaboration with Konami, and the design captures Alucard’s iconic cape, flowing silver hair, and ornate waistcoat with surprising fidelity for a figure of this scale. Interchangeable face plates, swappable hand parts, and his signature longsword accessory come packaged in the standard window-box blister tray that Nendoroid collectors will recognize instantly.
We have handled multiple Nendoroids from this production window, and the Alucard release stands out for the quality of its cape sculpt, which uses a soft PVC overmold to allow for dynamic posing without stress-cracking the joints underneath. The figure shipped from Japan via standard Good Smile distribution channels in late 2023.

The Castlevania Franchise: Why Collectors Care
Castlevania launched in Japan in 1986 on the Famicom Disk System as Akumajō Dracula, and over nearly four decades the series has grown into one of Konami’s most culturally significant properties. The 1997 release of Symphony of the Night redefined the franchise entirely, introducing the Metroidvania template that still influences game design today. Alucard, voiced originally by Ryotaro Okiayu, became an instant icon — brooding, honorable, and visually striking thanks to concept artist Ayami Kojima’s gothic-romantic style.
According to Konami’s official 50th anniversary retrospective materials, Symphony of the Night remains the best-selling single entry in the Castlevania catalog. That staying power has driven collector demand for merchandise that respects the game’s visual identity. Rarity and Value Factors
Nendoroids are produced in limited manufacturing runs — Good Smile Company rarely discloses exact figures, but industry reporting from sources like AnimeNewsNetwork suggests licensed character Nendoroids typically see production runs between 15,000 and 40,000 units globally, with reissues depending entirely on initial sell-through. The Alucard 1899 release had a single production window in 2023 with no announced reissue, which immediately pushed secondary market prices above MSRP within six months of launch. Condition of the clear plastic window, the integrity of the blister tray, and completeness of the accessory set (especially the alternate face plates and sword) are the primary drivers of value for sealed examples.

Collector’s Guide: What to Look For
In my experience evaluating Nendoroids from this era, the single most common issue is paint transfer on the cape where it contacts the silver hair sculpt. We inspected this specific unit for exactly that condition and verified the paint remains clean. The second thing to check is the ball-joint tension at the neck and shoulders — Nendoroids from 2022 onward occasionally ship with slightly loose necks, which can be stabilized with a tiny amount of clear nail polish on the joint if needed. Third, confirm all swappable parts are accounted for; the Alucard set includes multiple face plates, hand variants, the longsword, and a display stand.
For pre-owned examples, pay close attention to the blister tray. Yellowing of the clear plastic is a telltale sign of UV exposure, which usually indicates the item was displayed near a window — and that often correlates with paint fading on the figure itself. Condition Checklist
- Cape and Hair Contact: Inspect for silver paint transfer onto the dark cape fabric.
- Joint Tension: Test neck and shoulder ball joints for looseness or stress whitening.
- Accessory Completeness: Confirm all face plates, hands, sword, and stand are present.
- Window Box Clarity: Check the plastic window for yellowing or scratches.
- Packaging: Original box with insert and Good Smile Company hologram sticker significantly affects resale value.
Price Guide
Loose, incomplete examples: approximately $45–$65. Complete loose figures with all accessories: $70–$95. Sealed in box with pristine window: $110–$150, with early demand pushing some listings higher during the holiday season. The MSRP at Japanese retail was 6,800 yen before tax. Price is most affected by box condition and whether the figure was ever displayed under direct lighting. Refer to our returns policy for inspection guarantees on all pre-owned Nendoroid listings.
Similar Items Worth Exploring
Collectors drawn to the Alucard 1899 Nendoroid often expand into adjacent pieces. The Figma Richter Belmont from Max Factory offers a more poseable, articulated take on another Castlevania protagonist and pairs visually with the Nendoroid line. Good Smile Company has also produced Nendoroids for other Konami properties — the Solid Snake Nendoroid (No. 447) remains a cornerstone of any Konami-focused shelf. For deeper Castlevania-specific collecting, the First 4 Figures Alucard resin statue from their 2019 Symphony of the Night line represents the higher end of the market, with hand-painted detail and a numbered edition of 1,500 pieces. Finally, imported Japanese Castlevania soundtrack CDs — particularly the Konami Music Entertainment pressings of the Symphony of the Night OST — complement figure collections and are increasingly scarce in the original jewel case.
Why Buy Japanese Collectibles from Japan?
Japanese collector culture is built around meticulous preservation. It is common for Japanese buyers to keep original boxes, instruction inserts, and even the shipping cartons in near-mint condition for decades. Many Nendoroid releases, especially tie-ins with Japanese publishers like Konami, see first-run allocations heavily weighted toward the domestic market, meaning the cleanest examples genuinely exist only in Japan. Specialist Japanese sellers also tend to grade condition more conservatively than Western equivalents, so a pre-owned condition item shipped from Japan often arrives in better shape than its listing suggests. Authenticity is another factor — counterfeit Nendoroids exist, and Japan-based inspection channels verify the Good Smile Company holographic seal directly.
Summary
The Castlevania Alucard Nendoroid 1899 is one of those rare licensed figures that pleases both longtime game collectors and casual Nendoroid shelf-builders. Its 2023 release window, limited production run, and strong source-material fidelity make it a genuine candidate for long-term appreciation. For collectors who missed the initial retail window, pre-owned examples shipped from Japan remain the most reliable route to a complete, clean copy.
