Tokusatsu collecting — Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Ultraman, Godzilla — spans product families that have almost nothing in common with each other. A poseable collector figure, a die-cast display piece, a wearable transformation device and a soft vinyl figure are all sold to the same fans, and they age, ship and fail in completely different ways.

On electronics: where a type is battery powered we say so, because it is the one thing that cannot be judged from a photograph. Every powered item we list is tested and the result is written in the listing. We do not estimate remaining lifespan — there is no honest way to do that.
Which family fits what you want on the shelf?
If you want the character posed in action, the collector-figure family is built for that. If you want weight and presence, die-cast display pieces are the traditional answer and they feel entirely different in the hand. If your attachment is to the transformation sequence itself, the DX gear is the actual prop replica — but it is also the family where age shows first, because electronics and battery compartments are involved.
Soft vinyl is the format to look at if you like the classic silhouette and want something robust; it is the least fragile of the four.
Buying decades-old tokusatsu toys
Much of this material is genuinely old, and old means battery compartments that were stored with batteries inside, vinyl that has been in the sun, and small accessories that were separated from their boxes long ago. We check power, photograph the compartment, and list accessories individually rather than saying the set is complete. If we cannot confirm something works, the listing says that instead of implying it does.
